2022 Cinema de la Plage

One of the best parts of the #CannesFilmFestival is the nightly film on the beach, open to all and FREE! Here are this year's films and the directors presenting them.

Cinema de la Plage c. NR

What's better than watching a film with your toes in the sand? How about watching a film presented by the actual director? And then, make it open to the public and free.

As with all the festivals that place in Cannes, the city makes sure that the local community is included and has the opportunity to take participate for free. The Cinema de la Plage, or the Beach Cinema, is a free film screening every night during the #FestivaldeCannes featuring a selection of classic films, blockbusters of yesterday and even some world premiers! This is also a great way to see a director’s cut, or hear about the film from the filmmaker him/herself when they present the film on stage, in person.

Did anyone catch the legendary filmmaker, Oliver Stone last year when he presented his personal version of "JFK", as he wanted to make it? It was a long night with a 4+ hour film starting at 10pm, but what an opportunity! Then, of course, it was the Grand Master himself, Spike Lee, who presented the final film on the beach, his musical documentary "David Byrnes American Utopia". This year, other filmmaker greats like Rob Reiner and Baz Luhrmann will take the stage.

The films start at 9:30 pm each night of the #Cannesfilmfestival .

The screenings are open to the public and no tickets are needed to enter, however, there are a limited number of seats so you need to queue early (plan on getting in line no later than 7pm).

And make sure to have a few €s on hand for the resident 'chou-chou' vendor, selling his candy-roasted nuts.
