Nestled in the heart of Monaco, the iconic Hotel Metropole unveils its enchanting oasis, the Odyssey Pool Deck, offering an unparalleled experience of luxury and elegance. Designed by the late fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld, this glamorous pool and dining area reopened for the summer '23 season in a celebration of sophistication and style. Accompanied by the culinary artistry of the hotel's esteemed Executive Chef, Christophe Cussac, Bon Vivant was pleased to attend a private soiree to mark the occasion.

Located just up and to the left of the renowned Givenchy Spa, once you step onto the Odyssey Pool Deck, you are greeted by Lagerfeld's exquisite design, which seamlessly blends modernity with timeless elegance. The pool itself is a twinkling azure oasis, surrounded by chic lounge chairs and luxurious cabanas adorned with Lagerfeld's signature monochromatic palette and intricate detailing. Every element of the pool deck exudes a sense of refined opulence, creating an ambience that is both indulgent and inviting.

No matter where you sit, by the pool or in the dining area, there is a sense of being secluded in a lush estate, a world away from the hustle and bustle, high-rise towers and building cranes of Monaco. A harmonious fusion of contemporary and classic design elements, it provides the perfect backdrop for guests to savour culinary delights while enjoying the breathtaking surroundings. Lagerfeld's meticulous attention to detail is evident in every aspect, from the elegant furnishings to the pixelated wall of Greek models, creating an atmosphere of understated luxury.

Chef Christophe Cussac and his team at the Odyssey

The reopening soirée was the perfect opportunity for Hotel Metropole’s Director, Serge Ethuin to make a big announcement: the opening date of the long-awaited restaurant, Les Ambassadeurs by Christophe Cussac. Together with Chef Cussac, Mr Ethuin happily informed guests of the 24 June opening. With a complete overhaul of the kitchen and dining area, Les Ambassadeurs replaces the previous restaurant under the moniker of Joël Robuchon. Chef Cussac joined the Metropole in 2004 and the hotel is thrilled to finally offer this innovative and loyal chef a restaurant in his name. You can read more about the restaurant here.

Known for his culinary mastery and innovative approach, Chef Cussac creates a symphony of flavours, paying homage to the Mediterranean's bounty. For lighter fare on hot summer evenings, Odyssey is a unique setting in the principality.

The Monaco Rush

Don’t miss one of Hotel Metropole’s newest cocktails, made with Gardener Gin, the latest from Brad Pitt, the Perrin Family, and world-renowned distiller Tom Nichol. The spirit pays homage to the French Riviera, “a place where the imagination transcends and expresses itself.”

Launched during the 80th Monaco Grand Prix, the "Monaco Rush," is made with peach coulis and liqueur, crème de cassis, mint and lemon juice. All at once fruity and serious; elegant and playful. It just might be the perfect drink for a Monaco Summer.
