Paseo: Juan-les-Pin's new boho lounge for drinks and sharing plates

A transformed courtyard at the historic Hotel Juana delights the senses with their eco bohemian-chic lounge and a Mediterranean-inspired menu.

Paseo at Hotel Juana in Juan-les-Pins

There’s a new address in Juan-les-Pins for those who are looking for a fun, low-key place to enjoy a drink and sharing plates with your friends. Actually, the address isn’t exactly new, per se, as it is revamped and transformed.

The stately courtyard that lies in front of the Hotel Juana, sister hotel to the famed Hotel Belles Rives, used to be the extension of the fine dining restaurant, but Antoine Estène-Chauvin, the next in line in the family heritage hoteliers, wanted to breathe a new, fresh and younger vibe to the space. After all, they already have fine dining at their other location.

His vision? A convivial meeting place not just for evening drinks and food but also a relaxing and chill environment for digital nomads and those working at a distance to be somewhere … more enchanting. People are welcome to come to Paseo, work in the lushly landscaped courtyard or by the pool, using the hotel’s WiFi and enjoying their cocktails (they also have a nice selection of alcohol-free cocktails so you don’t squabble your Zoom session).

It has a bit of a Beverly Hills Hotel feel, without the price!

They describe the ambiance as ‘half-bohemian, half-eco place, with a quirky vintage gazebo and eclectic, brightly coloured furniture.’ And we think that sums it up pretty well! It’s a bar, it’s a lounge, it has a pool and gazebo… it’s a great spot to enjoy an evening with friends.

Tasty and varied menu

The menu is Mediterranean inspired with classic Niçois dishes like Socca, courgette flower fritters, fried jolles (like anchovies but smaller and more delicate), fresh chilled Gaspacho, or a refreshing salade Niçoise. The menu, created by Steve Moracchini, Belles Rives’ Pastry Chef (and creator of their fab “Buffet de Goûter” at the Bar Fitzgerald), features vegetarian and Gluten free options. That’s not easy to find in France!

To whet your whistle, try their fruit-filled Sangria or the Lillet Spritz filled with berries - both delightful and easy drinks on a hot summer evening on the terrace.

Another great thing about Paseo? It’s family-run. The Belles Rives Group is one of the last few remaining independent luxury hotels and it’s always good to support independent businesses. We are excited to see what else Mr Chauvin has in store for us as he steps more into his role as co-owner.

Paseo has cool summer vibes, fun plates for sharing, bright colours, chill music plus the lovely sound of the stone fountain, and very reasonable prices. It's is sure to be a popular spot this summer!

Don't miss Thursdays in Juan-les-Pins!

Every Thursday in August, there are beautiful fireworks right on the water at the start of Cap d'Antibes. A great place to watch is at Villa Rosa just a 5-minute walk from Paseo and also part of the Belles Rives Group. Otherwise, a short walk to the beach will give you great views.
